Jim (James) Keith Wilcox passed away on the morning of April 29th, 2017 at Victoria, British Columbia. The family of Wilcox, Daniel, and Musgrave wish to thank the dedicated health care professionals, doctors, and nurses that brought comfort and care to Mr. Wilcox over the years, we are truly grateful. Jim Wilcox was pre-decreased by a brother he loved dearly John Daniel Wilcox, and his grandparents who raised him, Beatrice and John Wilcox of Woodslee, Ontario and his father, Oliver Wilcox were always in his heart. Jim Wilcox had a wonderful career on the ocean and was the 6th generation of our long family line to be a ships Captain going back as far as the 1500s. Jim travelled the world and navigated some of the most beautiful waters including the Salish Sea, the Saint Lawrence Seaway, as his 3rd great grandfather had done before him in 1812, and the waters of South America. The family wishes to acknowledge his friends and colleagues from BC Ferries. Jim Wilcox lived on Cortes Island, a place that brought him comfort and friendship and the family wishes to thank all his close friends from the Island for the assistance and generosity of spirit you provided to our uncle and cousin over the years. Jim was an uncle, cousin, friend, poet and storyteller. He believed in freedom, free speech, a place to write, safety of our waters, equality and refugees. He was a wonderful conversationalist and letter writer and lived his life as an ocean current, wandering and shaping those he met. Jim will be greatly missed by his nieces Lisa Wilcox, Samantha Wilcox, Emma and Jon Rubatscher, his many cousins Barb, Roy, Pam, Patty, Peter, Bob, Chris, Scott, and Ian, and Judith Stuart (Wilcox) and Lynda Wilcox. We wish you well dear Captain until we see you again steering the ship across the waters.
