It is with gratitude for him that Oasis announces the passing of Timothy Ambrose James January 11, 2016. Born at Esperanza, BC (03.08.62), the son of (deceased) Jackie Morris of the Ahousaht First Nation and (deceased) Virginia James of Nootka Sound and the Mowachaht Muchalaht First Nation, Tim leaves behind him decades of Victoria friends whom he touched by his natural joy and endearing sense of humor. He also leaves behind his large extended family - on his maternal side, Gloria Maquinna and Mary Ann Gallant, Marguerita (and deceased Arnold) James as well as Larry (and Shirley) Andrews; on his paternal side, he leaves behind Grandmas Lena Jumbo, Patty Titian and Doreen Sam, Josie (and Ray) Watts, Bill (and Julie) Morris, Barb Morris (and Larry Bob Stewart), Thelma Webster, Tobias Jones, and Burma Morris and Diane Evans across the border; his remarkable sister, Jacqueline Sabbas, his first cousin Johnny John, and countless other Nuu chah nulth relatives - cousins, nieces, nephews and families- by -marriage whom he loved to hear call him “Grandpa!”, “Uncle!” “Cousin!”, “Nephew!” Tim was with Oasis for nine of its ten years and often repeated: “At least I did one thing right with my life. I started Oasis”. He chanted another refrain: “Tell everyone I had a good life” which is now his legacy, a hero’s way of handling an inconceivably hard life, lived alone on the streets of Victoria for more than thirty years. Fly with the eagles, Tim. Your role in your family is accomplished; your responsibility to the human community, complete. Pursue your future in freedom. Trust, weep, trust again, and keep going forward, confident that you are protected and surrounded by family who for all time will not permit themselves to be separated from you, and who will cherish and believe in you to the other side of time.

A service for all Tim’s Victoria friends will be held Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 10am at Our Place.

At his request, Tim will be buried next to his Mother in Gold River, B. C.

Prayers will take place Friday January 15, 2016 at 7pm. Bishop Gary Gordon will conduct the funeral service Saturday January 16, 2016 at 11am.
