It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Elizabeth Derry on September 2, 2016.

Predeceased by her loving husband Roy of 54 years, twin sister Mary Ann and sister Barbara. She is survived by her four daughters Lynn, Donna (David), Debby (Dave) and Brenda (Paul), her amazing grandchildren Terry, Jeff (Erin), and Brett Speed, Ben and Jessica Fudge and Emily and Adrian Ross, and adored great granddaughter London Speed. She also leaves behind her beloved younger brothers Ted (Gail), Bob (Kay), Rick (Frank), brother-in-law Bill, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Joan was born in Windsor Ontario, the second eldest (identical twin) of 6 children. Mom met our Dad when he was on a trip to Ottawa with the Naden Band. After a short time they were engaged and married on September 11, 1954. Following a brief stay in Nova Scotia, they were transferred to Victoria where Dad was raised. Mom and Dad soon bought their dream home on Eastdowne Road and had 4 daughters in 5 years. Over the years Mom enjoyed bowling, curling, bridge and their annual winter trip to Yuma with her sisters and other family members. Mom and Dad loved spending time with their family and after Dad passed away, Mom enjoyed Mexico with her best-friend Shirley Rainey, her daughters and their families.

A service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at St. Philip's Church, 2928 Eastdowne Road at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Linda Ottley and the amazing staff at Oak Bay Lodge for the wonderful, compassionate care they provided for our Mom.
