Gregory Murray
July 16, 1960 - November 11, 2016
Murray, Gregory Ian MacDonald - July 16, 1960-November 11, 2016
Surrounded by family, Greg passed peacefully on November 11th at Victoria Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Toronto, ON July 16, 1960, he was the son of Kathelene G. Metzer (Murray) and the late Donald N. Murray. As a child, Greg spent summers at the family cottage located on the Moon River in Bala, Ontario where he developed his love of nature and the enjoyment of fishing and camping. He worked as a carpenter, construction worker and once a logger in Ucluelet, BC. His artistic talent and passions were expressed through music, photography and painting; listening or capturing whatever moved him.
As a great fan of hockey, Greg participated in Canada's favourite past-time rarely missing Hockey Night in Canada, cheering on his favourite team the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Greg will be sadly missed by his mother Kathelene, stepfather Grant, sisters: Andria, Allison, and Katherine, and by his nieces Meghann, Michaela and Neve, and nephews Jordan and Ethan.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all the nurses, doctors and staff and volunteers at the Victoria Hospice, along with all the other support that Greg had including friends and family.
Out of the blue
and into the black
They give you this,
but you pay for that
And once you're gone,
you can never come back
When you're out of the blue
and into the black.
