Douglas Raymond Forseth

Doug was The King Fisherman. Today, March 15, 2016, at home, we lost a son, husband, brother, uncle, and ultimate friend and mentor. Born May 1, 1961 in Edmonton, Alberta. Doug was a hunter gatherer. He was very competitive and played by the rules. He was endearingly matter of fact. Doug was able to fix anything.

Survived by his wife Sally (nee Primrose) his parents Ray and Corinne Forseth, his brother Steve Forseth (Nicole, Samantha, Jake), his sister Lori Bacon (Dave, Brett, Derek), his beloved cat “Turtle” and many lifelong friends.

Diagnosed with G.I.S.T cancer in June 2013 Doug retired as a mechanic. He then set his mind on building their home.

Doug graduated at top of the class from the automotive program at SAIT in 1981, and hightailed it out of Calgary in his 1970 Trans Am. He began is career as a mechanic working with Miles Primrose at Gordon Head Shell in Victoria and later at ABR Automotive.

His love for fishing began on Piers Island. He won multiple fishing derbies in competition with his brother Steve. Forty years later he was still advising us of the best tides, lures, hot spots and rigging.

Doug loved playing baseball and the enduring friendships he made along the way. He played for several Victoria teams beginning with the Rebels and most recently with the Swimco team. He was the starting pitcher and known as a great off field hitter that stayed well hydrated during and after games. “Rumoured to have the nicest legs on the team”....

Hunting was one of Doug’s great passions. He treasured the hunting experiences with his buddies.

A celebration will be held at a later date. Please no flowers. If you wish to make a donation Doug wanted to support the Canadian Cancer Society, Victoria Hospice, or The Sidney Anglers Association.
