Cristina Voorsluys
January 7, 1939 - August 6, 2016
Voorsluys, Cristina – January 7, 1939-August 6, 2016.
With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Cristina Voorsluys (nee Salvino), a beautiful mother, Lula, sister, friend, and classmate, after a 5+ yearlong battle with ovarian cancer. Cristina is predeceased by her beloved husband Gerrit Voorsluys to whom she was married for 40 happy years. She leaves behind daughters Theresa, Anita, and Tina, five grandchildren, and sister Carina who was a great support to her during her illness. Cristina was born in Santa Barbara, Philippines – the eldest daughter of 8. She completed her nursing degree in 1961 in Iloilo and then worked in Cebu City, Philippines; Rochester, Minnesota; and Chicago, Illinois; before moving to Victoria. She retired from nursing in 2000 after 39 years of service. She was an active member of the church and the Filipino community in Victoria. Cristina was an avid cook, reader, collector, and traveller and leaves behind many memories of her devotion, kindness, and loyal friendship.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation in support of Dr. Brad Nelson's Immunotherapy Clinical Trial, Victoria BC
